10 Apr SubDocta – “Skeleton Key” [FRESH BLOOD]
Aiming to provide a platform for artists of all calibers, the Buygore Records sub label Fresh Blood says hello to a new face known as SubDocta. In this debut single, “Skeleton Key” is an attention grabbing, dub heavy sonic concoction introducing the darker, more innovative side of electronic music.
Opening with a slow-burning introduction, “Skeleton Key” dives head first into a deep abyss of phlegmatic wobbles and ravenous rhythms. SubDocta successfully delivers a smooth blend of metallic sounds, speaker rattling basslines, and eerie melodies keeping the listeners on their toes.
SubDocta spoke with the Buygore team in a quick interview to get to know the new face to the Fresh Blood imprint:
1.When did you start producing music and why?
Well, I started DJing in 2009, but started producing in 2011. I was inspired by the rise of talent in my hometown and decided to give it a shot. Not long after, I was addicted and couldnt get enough
- Who are your influences?
All of my friends. Haha They are all amazing producers with so much talent. I also like Ganja White Night and Rusko. I still listen to a ton of gangster rap, heavy metal and punk as well though. You could say I am inspired by a variety of genres.
- What’s your favorite song you’ve ever made?
Thats tough! To be honest, I don’t think I’ve made my favorite song yet. I still have such a long way to go, but I know it will all be worth it.
- What tech do you use to produce?
I produce in Ableton. I use a lot of weird percussion and nature sounds in my musuc. Sounds design is prob the most important aspect to me.
- What’s a fun fact about you?
I use to tour as an audio engineer for Blue October. I will forever love those guys. Incredible humans and the hardest workers. They gave me the confidence to work on my craft and become my own artist.
Releasing on April 10th, 2018 via Buygore’s Fresh Blood imprint, “Skeleton Key” illustrates experimentation at it’s finest.
