Consisting of members Dylan Lewman and Malcolm Anthony, this producer duo operates under the moniker K Theory. Widely known for curating a dynamic mixture of electronic dance music fused with hip hop beats, K Theory once again pushes the limits of genre production with their forthcoming Electronic Hip Hop EP. While the EP is scheduled for release May 13th, Buygore Records has dropped two tracks for free download including their collab with Wizard “Turn It” and their latest single “Got Me.” Fresh off their OH MY GOD it’s K THEORY tour, we asked Dylan and Malcolm a few questions about the upcoming EP. Check out what they have to say about Electronic Hip Hop here:

1) You guys just wrapped up your K THEORY “OH MY GOD” tour with Big Makk, Instant Party, and Social Kid. What were some of your favorite stops on the tour? Have any funny stories to share?

This tour was the best…so many awesome shows…we did SuperCity 50 Festival with Diplo, Chainsmokers, Chuckie, & a bunch of other acts at the Oakland Colesium. We got to do Life In Color for the first time with Steve Aoki & it was crazyyyy. We got to so many fun headline shows & meet all of our fans across the country, we can’t think of a better touring period than this. Big Makk was a blast to have on tour & seeing him inoculated on edibles in Colorado was by far one of the highlights of the tour…haha dude is too funny!

2) Three months ago, you dropped your collab “Turn It” with Wizard for free download. How did this collab come about?

Dustin is a super Trap Nation fan & discovered Wizard on their channel. We connected via Twitter & he sent stems for an idea which later became “Turn It”. Love Big Wiz, he is making some of the hottest melodic trap beats on the net right now, trying to get collab #2 with him locked down for late 2016!

3) Are you guys excited for the release of your forthcoming Electronic Hip Hop EP? What has been the most challenging aspect for you production-wise?

Super stoked, this is actually our 3rd attempt at an album together & EHH culminates the idea we have all shared for the past 3 years perfectly. Blending hip hop & electronic in the most ideal way, is definitely the toughest. Our Electronic Hip Hop EP was scrapped 3 times as well before we nailed the production around the songs, patience is a virtue!

4) K Theory is all about merging electronic dance music and hip hop influences. Who would you say are some of your biggest inspirations in both genres are?

Hip Hop – Biggie, Jay Z, Kendrick, Wiz, ASAP, & all of the talent coming out of our record label New Trinity Music Group…Mal J, Terry Mak, Jerz, Tey Cinco…keeping us on our toes & fueling this movement!
Electronic – Tiesto mixed with Calvin Harris with a splash of Borgore & a side of Nero.
We also love Zeds Dead, Carnage, Diplo, & Skrillex…they are all super innovative & we really think the new levels of creativity are going to push electronic music to a whole other level.

5) Following the success of “Turn It,” you just released another track off your upcoming EP entitled “Got Me.” Why did you decide to drop this track ahead of the EP release date?

If you are a long time K Theory fan you’ll know this is most time we’ve spent not releasing music & got me was itching to come out cuz we got 99 problems like Jay Z…Turn It is very classic K Theory electronic hip hop & we wanted to give an extra taste on what to expect with the EHH EP, and got me has all of the aspects of what we consider premiere electronic hip hop 🙂

6) Finally, what are you guys most excited for in 2016? Are there any festival performances you’re looking forward to over the summer?

Probably most excited for this EP to come out & wear these new Buygore board shorts on our mini vacations before we start up our touring again…blessings! But for real damn a vacation is just…we need one haha…we are playing this super sweet festival BFD in the Bay Area with NGHTMRE (luv him) & Dancefestopia with too many homies to mention…ooh and we are going to do our first ever Australia / NZ tour in August & continue our national & Canada headline tour in the fall…were also flying back to San Francisco tonight to get some studio work in & we get to get our favorite nachos & donuts ever, so that might be the 2016 highlight…oh and napping, can’t forget that 😉

Peep bits of Electronic Hip Hop above and get ready for the whole EP to drop May 13th!
