[INT 007] Dr. Fresch Speaks On His Prescription Series, “Netflix N Kill”, & 2016

Every now and then you get an up-and-coming artist that really stands out; pushing boundaries one genre-bending track at a time – proving there sky truly is the limit. Los Angeles native Dr. Fresch does just that. Between his Prescription Series with some of the biggest up-and-coming producers, his Prep School Recordings imprint, consistently releasing tracks, while all currently on tour with SNBRN & Shaun Frank – Dr. Fresch has one hell of a year plan. Hang out with him below as he talks about his inspirations, plans for 2016, and his highly anticipated collaboration with Jackal, titled “Netflix N Kill” (dropping tomorrow, February 19th).
1. What was it like working on “Netflix and Kill” with Jackal?
From start to finish, the production process for “Netflix N Kill” has to be one of the most fluid I’ve ever had. Mikey and I came together with a very clear idea of where we wanted to go with the collab – we created a narrative for the track, and the production followed really smoothly; pairing together Mikey’s big percussion with some of my bass textures, then writing the drop and breakdown it came naturally! Definitely want to work with the [twat] again.
2. What song would you prescribe for a sunny day by the pool?
Aaron Smith – Dancin (Linier Remix)

This song is a great representation of the lighter side of my live persona, and the vocal is so so catchy.
3. How has your mix series The Prescription been going?
The success that we’ve had with The Prescription in the last six months has far exceeded my expectations! It’s an amazing thing to be able to showcase your friends talent, and the talent of new, up and coming artists and see your fans react positively. Really excited to see where I can take the Prescription brand in 2016!

4. Where would you say you get your inspiration from?
Way too many places to list, haha, but artistically from the UK Bass scene, the European G-House scene, and the beat music scene. I’m constantly searching for the intersection of these three genres, with Hip Hop influenced music being the common denominator – “Future Ghetto”.
5. You did a ton of traveling in 2015, where was your favorite place that you visited while on tour?
AUSTRALIAAAAAAAA – I loved it down under! I felt great energy from the scene there; their response to every genre of music I played was perfect. Can’t wait to go back!
6. What shows and festivals do you have planned so far for 2016? Traveling to any cool destinations?
A lot of festivals to announce in the near future! Right now, in the midst of tour dates with Shaun Frank and SNBRN on our “New Order” Tour, as well as joining Brillz and Party Favor for the last leg of the “Twonkdination” Tour – so stoked!
