1 Label. 1 Non-Profit. 1 Nightclub.
1 Hella Lit Christmas.
As we come to a close of 2015, we look back on one of the most transformational years we’ve had to date as a label. Wanting to give back to the community and scene we love so much – we wanted to throw a free charity event here in Los Angeles on Christmas night, where all donations were given to the Children’s Hospital – Los Angeles (CHLA). Bringing aboard Nap Girls, a creative collective of women promoting gender equality in the dance music industry, we prepared for a night of dancing and special guests as we celebrate the holidays, our fans, and the end of the year.
It was a chilly Christmas night, as one by one the partygoers proceeded to wrap around Sound Nightclub located on North Las Palmas in Hollywood as early as 8:00 pm as entry was based on first come first serve basis. Promptly at 10:00 pm – the doors of Sound opened and within 15 minutes a fourth barricade was brought out to help manage the abundance of toy donations as attendees paraded inside into the deep abyss of house tunes from Producer and DJ J. Worra, as she began to set the tone for the night.
As the dance floor filled up, so did the donations. The “Godfather” of dance music in LA and internationally acclaimed DJ, Swedish Egil, kept the vibes going as the amount of club space dwindles. NIGHTOWLS follows Egil, slowly stepping up the game as the rhythmic bass house permeates the nightclub; tables being sold left and right and one by one the anticipated guest performers begin to arrive. It didn’t take long for the long-awatied charity event to hit capacity – taking just shy of an hour of doors being opened – the event was in full swing and Sound’s infamous Pioneer system was beating heavily through each dedicated listener.
As the night goes on, Kick N’ Licks, whom recently ended their Young Mind Tour, turns up the heat one sub-wrecking 808 at a time, followed by a special back-to-back between Styles (from Styles&Complete) and Carter Cruise. Sound’s 3-D projection mapping and vibrant lasers set the tone for a perfect playground of good vibes and involuntary moving as the music took hold within each attendee.
If a Buygore event occurred – and no dubstep was played, did the event ever really happen? 12th Planet surprises the decks as 140 BPM that we all know and love so much womps the Pioneers. The headbangers maniacally make their way to the front without any hesitation – proving once and for all dubstep is anything but “dead” dropping nothing but the most gnarly of dubstep and riddim tunes. Next thing you know, the man of the hour Borgore graces the stage alongside 12th Planet. What could possibly be added to make Christmas even more eventful? A wild Skrillex appears – curating one of the more epic back-to-back-to-backs to grace #TheBuygoreShow.
It was a night filled with nothing but good vibes, good tunes, and good times. With the help of Nap Girls as well as all of our fans and supporters, throughout the night we raised 655 toys, which will be donated to the CHLA, alongside $1209 that will be donated to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
We’re beyond excited for the new year – with tons of HUGE things already in the works – we can’t wait to show you what we have in store!
Thank you to everyone who came out and made this possible. Special thanks to all of our friends and Buygore family that came out and partied with us. Can’t wait to do it again.
